VIUSU Launches New Grant Program

Students' Union Introduces VIUSU Grants Program to Support Student-Led Initiatives

Vancouver Island University, Nanaimo – The Vancouver Island University Students' Union (VIUSU) is proud to announce the launch of its new Student Grants Program, designed to support student-led initiatives on campus. The program offers financial support for conference attendance, club events, and educational initiatives through three distinct streams of funding. "We believe that students should have the opportunity to take the lead on initiatives that matter to them," said Mathews Tharakan, Organiser , VIUSU. "The VIUSU Grants Program is a great way for students to get the support they need to make a real impact on campus and in the community.

The conference attendance stream of funding will provide financial assistance to students looking to attend and present at conferences related to their field of study. The club events stream of funding will support recognized student clubs in organizing events that promote community building and social engagement. The educational initiatives stream of funding will support students in developing and implementing educational projects that enhance the learning experience for their peers." Student leadership is vital to the success of our campus community," said Tharakan. "The VIUSU Grants Program is just one of the many ways we're working to empower students to make a positive impact on our university."

Applications for the VIUSU Grants Program will be available Friday, January 27 on the VIUSU website.

The Vancouver Island University Students' Union is the official representative body of the students of Vancouver Island University, representing over 12,000 upgrading, trades, undergraduate, and graduate students.
