RDN Transit Feedback
The Regional District of Nanaimo is looking for feedback from transit users in Nanaimo for their Transit Redevelopment Strategy. Students at VIU are major stakeholders in Nanaimo’s transit system and it is important to ensure our voice is heard.
Skilled Trades Certification
Whether it be building infrastructure, manufacturing essential products, or providing important services, trades workers are an essential part of BC’s economy and social tapestry. Students across BC applaud the BC government's announcement of the Skilled Trades Certification program as this announcement will create jobs, provide job security, and lead to higher wages for workers.
Fall Club Activities
After August 1 we will have more specific information available for clubs and course unions about what will be possible to plan this fall. That being said, we do have some hints of this from the discussions at the Post Secondary Student Student Leader Town Hall with Dr. Bonnie Henry.
Senate approves updates to Academic Misconduct Policy
A huge overhaul has been made to the academic misconduct policy, this is a big win for us as student representatives! The changes allow for more lenience when genuine mistakes are made, as well as the incorporation of the accused students perspective in reports of misconduct.
BC Talks about Virtual Learning
VIU students participated in a virtual event on Thursday, April 8 hosted by SFU’s Morris J. Wosk Centre for Dialogue alongside students from all over BC about what worked and what didn’t in regards to online learning in the past year.
