Want to help shape the future of student life at VIU? VIUSU believes that students should have a say in the decisions that impact their education and campus experience. *Online or In-Person participation options available - REGISTER HERE.
Join us on Tuesday, January 21, at 2:30PM-4PM for our Social Justice Working Group where we’ll dive into:
• Recapping VIUSU's meetings with the VP Students.
• Brainstorming fun and creative ways to engage the student body in advocacy and feedback.
• Discussing the Rise Up campaign
We’ll also be inviting you to join our “Let’s Taco ’Bout Issues” event on Tuesday, January 28—a unique opportunity to connect with other students, collect feedback, and learn how to lead conversations about important campus topics (plus, tacos!).
Finally, we’ll open the floor to you! Have a fresh idea or want to raise a new issue? This is your chance to bring it forward and help us set the agenda for what comes next.
Wondering how you can prepare for this working group?
1. Reflect on Your Experiences: Think about what’s working, what’s not, and what changes you’d like to see at VIU.
2. Learn the Basics: Review key topics like VIUSU’s advocacy efforts and the Rise Up Campaign.
3. Bring Creative Ideas: Come ready to brainstorm fun, engaging ways to involve students in advocacy and feedback.
4. Get Excited for “Let’s Taco ’Bout Issues” (Jan 28): Think about how you can help lead conversations and gather student feedback.
5. Be Ready to Collaborate: Share your ideas, listen to others, and work together to make a difference.
VIUSU believes that students should have the right to participate and provide input in all levels of the decision making processes at VIU. It is important that students are heard when VIU makes decisions that impact services, parking, budgeting, and faculty representation.
Hosted by your Director of External Relations, Cait Kellendonk.
