Join us for the 2023 Westwood Lake Witch Paddle on Sunday, October 29th!

Bring your paddle board or kayak, life jacket, and costume and have a fun paddle on the lake with us. We'll be launching onto the water from the second beach.

This is a free event although VIU students will be raising money to help tackle food insecurity in our community. Donations received at this event will be provided to Nanaimo Loaves & Fishes Food Bank and Nanaimo Foodshare.

Event Schedule:

11:00am - Kids treasure hunt begins & paddler group photo at second beach

11:15am - Paddlers launch onto water at second beach (RESERVE A PADDLEBOARD - STUDENTS ONLY)

2:00pm - Treasure map return deadline / event ends

Kids are invited to complete a treasure hunt along the Westwood Lake trail. Treasure maps can be picked up from the big tent near second beach and can be returned for a treat and prize entry!

We'll also have food trucks, live music, a bouncy castle, and other fun surprises! All VIU students, staff, and faculty as well as the Nanaimo community are invited.

Weather conditions may impact this event. Please check our @viustudentsunion Instagram account the morning of the paddle to see if the paddle portion has been cancelled or delayed.
