MSA-VIU is affiliated with the MSA National, which is the uniting and coordinating body of all local Muslim Student Associations in North America. Focused on fulfilling the day to day needs of Muslim students on the VIU campus, MSA-VIU also works together with other chapters from other universitiies towards the common goal and purpose of serving the best interests of Islam and Muslims in the United States and Canada.

To achieve these goals, MSA-VIU has taken active roles both within the Muslim students and the Muslim community in Nanaimo as well as the general student population in VIU. As we strive to make ourselves visible on campus, we will be regpularly participating in selected student-related activities and events. We will also work with the managemwent committee of the Islamic Center of Nanaimo to organize events such as Eid BBQ, monthly informal afternoon tea gatherings, and social events including dinners and sport activities. We have also a diverse library collection of Islamic materials which is made available to members at the Islamic Center of Nanaimo.

University Christian Ministries (UCM) exists to help "REALize" why we are here... really living life and loving Christ. Our aim as a community is to be REAL (Relational, Encouraging, Available, Life Learners) and our desire in loving Jesus is to love others by serving the campus and the community.

Every Thursday at 7:30pm we meet in the International building room 170 where we have music, sharing, prayer and sometimes just plain goofing off. Other activities on campus include: weekly core groups for everyone (especially people who cannot regularly attend the evening meetings), morning prayer times, worship nights, and monthly acts of services to the campus and community. Throughout the year we plan and fund-raise for our annual winter retreat and Spring Service trip to Mexico where we spend a week either building a house for a family in need, or serving at an orphanage.
