Our mission is to maximize the value of our education through networking between the business community, faculty and students, as well as providing advocacy for our members. We aim to have fun while preparing students for real world situations. Our goal is to create a legacy to benefit students today and in the future.

The Chemistry Club will provide social activities, academic leadership and professional development opportunities to its members through Chemistry Student Initiatives (CSI). Members will have the opportunity to enhance their academic interests by volunteering with local high schools, professional societies, environmental agencies and their peers. Club members will benefit from developing communication skills, professional contacts, and information booths and give demos for the Chemistry Club at events such as, National Chemistry Week, World Water Day, and World Rivers Day. The displays will promote Chemistry, the environment and VIU.
The first Chemistry Club initiative called Awareness of Climate change through Education (ACE) will promote awareness about the science of climate change and the resulting environmental impacts, particularly targeted to grade 10 high school students. During the month of May, Club members have the opportunity to be involved with grade 10 science days, which hosts local high school students on campus to promote a range of science degree opportunities at VIU.
Club members volunteering to work with high school and VIU students learn valuable time management, presentation and laboratory skills. Additional Chemistry Club services include networking with provincial and national professional societies, maintaining an updated inventory of chemistry tutors and study groups, Chemistry and ACE inspired apparel, a club website with updated news and events, solutions to select past chemistry exams, and hands-on chemistry demos.
